Evergreen Colorado Engagement Session {Emily + Matt}

"Emily, meet Emily."

My former boss was the one to introduce Emily and I to each other. Emily (not me) was fortunate to work with Kim at her new place of employment (I was SO envious!) and so when Emily and Matt got engaged, Kim so kindly referred Emily to me! (Keeping it all straight yet?)

We exchanged emails back and forth for a few weeks before finally meeting at one of my favorite local coffee shops, Stella's on South Pearl. It was a beautiful evening. Emily, Matt and I sat outside on the patio and talked for well over an hour about their upcoming wedding. It was such easy conversation and I could see why the two of them are perfect for each other.

When we first started talking about engagement session, one thing was certain; they both wanted quintessential fall in the Colorado mountains. Gorgeous dreamy light playing off the changing aspen leaves paired with the rich jewel tones of the evergreens and the cool September weather. I'd say we were able to achieve their vision perfectly!

I cannot wait for their March wedding at La Foret in Colorado Springs, but until then, enjoy these two lovebirds!

The Barn at Raccoon Creek September Wedding {Ryan + Mariah}

All weddings are special to me, but some just ooze a little extra special. If you caught Ryan and Mariah's engagement session a little while back, you already know that Ryan is my brother. {And if you didn't no worries, just go HERE to get up to speed!) So that is why this wedding had a bit more personal flare to it than normal.

I had the joy in watching Mariah plan out this day from the very beginning and Mariah was the DIY Queen! Seriously - almost everything was either made by her or was given some serious thought by her. She had a vision for their wedding and to see all of her efforts come together was so amazing. Even Ryan noted it in his speech later in the evening.

Ryan and Mariah chose to get married at The Barn at Raccoon Creek and it was perfect. A little rain early in the day had everyone nervous for the afternoon, but in true Colorado fashion, the clouds parted, the sun shined bright, and Ryan and Mariah were joined together as husband and wife with their closest family and friends as witness.

I have enjoyed watching the love between these two grow. Mr. and Mrs. Hill, I wish you both a lifetime of health, wealth and happiness. Thank you for being the best family a girl could ask for. Cheers to the many years to come!

2016 Review

2016 was an incredible year. But I have to be honest for a minute...2016 almost got the best of me. I reached a point that I hadn't really reached in years past. I wanted to quit. I pulled through, but not without the encouragement of my husband, my family and my friends, and of course my clients. I questioned my why a lot in the last few months of 2016. Why do I do this? And as I look back at every single one of the 75+ sessions I did this year - from engagements to weddings, birth, new life and growing families - my heart smiles and I am reminded why I do this.

To my right-hand gals - Stevie Ferreira, Payton B., Anna Hudson - you ladies keep my head on straight and play a huge role in delivering amazing wedding galleries time and time again. I appreciate you more than you will ever know, and wish you nothing but the best in the coming 2017 year.

To all of my clients from 2016, I thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Without you, all of this would not be possible.

San Francisco Yacht Wedding {Mike + Danielle}

WARNING: This post might be longer than normal! But it's a beauty so enjoy!

I have known Danielle for approximately 3(ish) years. We get our sweat on together at the same gym (shout out to Carla Sanchez at Performance Ready Fitness Studio). Danielle is a lawyer, with a bright personality, an infectious laugh, and a heart of pure gold. When I first met Mr. Mike, I could not have imagined a more soft-spoken, gentle, teddy bear of a man. Danielle tells me he is her old soul - really a 70 year old man shoved inside a young mans body. Always willing to do a million things for everyone else, and only one for himself last, he is the perfect compliment for Danielle.

Mike and Danielle first approached me about documenting their wedding day asking if I would be willing to travel to San Francisco for them. Ummmm.....NO QUESTION! We met over coffee and they hired me under one condition - I had to keep everything a secret. Oy. Mike and Danielle chose to keep the logistics of their wedding a secret. All their friends and family knew is they had to get to San Francisco, and be ready to "go" at a specific time, but all the details were left under wraps. (SO FUN!)

So in May of 2016, I ventured out to beautiful San Francisco - my favorite city by the bay - and with Jiyeon of The Allens Photography by my side, documented the special joining of Mike, Danielle, and sweet B. :) It was every bit intimate and unique as they dreamed it to be!

Mike and Danielle surprised their guests with a private trolley ride around the city before heading to the wedding and surprise number 2!

Surprise 2 was that Mike and Danielle would be getting married on a private yacht in the middle of the bay!! After we got everyone loaded on, we snuck Danielle down the ramp and onto the bottom of the yacht. And as we were cruising out to sea,  it was the perfect time to capture some of my favorite bridal portraits to date!

Not too many people can say they attended a wedding and a SF Giants game at the same time! (And ironically, the Giants were playing the hometown team, The Rockies!!)

A special thank you to Commodore Events for being such amazing hosts. The crew we had was exceptional! And also a major shout out to Christina of Detailed Elegance Event Planning and Design. She not only planned this beautiful destination wedding from Colorado, but she also orchestrated the Colorado reception Mike and Danielle had back home at Crooked Willow Farms a few weeks later! Who wouldn't love to get all dressed up again and party some more?!

Congratulations Mike, Danielle, and sweet B! I love you all so very much, and wish you nothing but the best!

Downtown Denver Engagement Session - Felicia + Eric

Happy Monday! I have another BEAUTIFUL engagement session for you to enjoy!

I adore these two. And my adoration for them began back in December of 2015, when Eric contacted me about photographing his proposal to Felicia. I squealed with delight, and could not WAIT until we met on top of Lookout Mountain in Golden and he asked her to marry him. was pretty epic. {Oh and that diamond is from our trusted friend at The Diamond Reserve in Cherry Creek. Stunning!}

Okay so then fast forward to April and I once again was so honored when Felicia and Eric contacted me to ask if I would continue documenting their journey through their wedding day. Naturally, again, another squeal of delight! First up - their engagement session.

Eric and Felicia chose to have their engagement session around downtown Denver and let me tell you, Denver did not disappoint. We started their session at the beautifully renovated Union Station, danced our way through Larimer Square for a stop at The Market {where they had their first date} and ended fashionably at Civic Center Park just as the sun set. The afternoon was magical, and of course Eric and Felicia dressed to impress! {Styling trick from Miss Felicia - she rented each of these dresses from Rent the Runway!}

I cannot wait for their wedding in 2018 and as always, please be sure to leave the soon-to-be Mr. + Mrs. a note below!
